Early Day Motions hardly ever see the light of debate but they are short statements, usually only one sentence, which sum up the general feelings of the undersigned; if debated and adopted than they are deemed to have summed up the feelings of the House. They have no force of law but a carefully crafted EDM can really strike a blow or give way to a rousing debate.
